A great little camera with tons of settings and an info screen to control it all, compared to the Mobius camera it has a bit more going on with it. You can connect it to multiple devices like a larger battery or video out to help with RC/FPV use but it's let down by smaller field of view and no waterproof housing.

A fantastically cheap yet powerful little action camera by Eken, they do many different versions but this is one of their cheapest. Although this camera advertises 4K video footage, it is interpolated, which means it records at a lower resolution then just adds pixels to that to get a 4k "look", so this isn't a real 4K action camera.

There is also no image stabalization on this camera, but the quality of the video and photographs are still very good.

We usually put a lot of filtering and sorting in to our best of pages and feature highlights, but for this budget action camera list we have simply filtered for all cameras that cost less than $75, which makes them cheap and hopefully still good quality.

Our Cam Score ranking system has taken stats, reviews and ratings from around the web and given each camera a score out of 100, you will be happy to see that even though they are still very cheap, you still have a good choice of cameras that can still record videos and photos.

Whilst you don't want a rubbish cheap action camera, you obviously still want something that can at least record in HD, won't die every few minutes, the battery life to last more than 10 minutes and a screen would be nice as well so you can view your recordings and frame your shots.

If you are just testing out the action camera market and this is your first purchase and leap in to the action camera world, then you've come to the right place. Here are some things and features you can expect with a camera in this price range.

What Do You Get With A Cheap Budget Action Camera

Firstly, every camera in this list is less than $75 / £55 / €60 and may be even cheaper at the time of reading, or could even be on sale, so there are bargains to be found here.

As of early 2018, there aren't any true 4K resolution action cameras available in this price bracket, if they show a 4K symbol, they are probably interpolated. You can definitely get waterproof and ocean ready action cameras, which means if you are in to surfing, snorkeling, swimming or playing around in wet environments, some of these can work for you.

A few do loop recording and have image stabalization, which means they may be good to test out on a bicycle or use as a cheap backup action camera for the rear or 2nd mounted camera on the front of your bike or motorbike. This is perfect if you are recording your commutes in to work and the only thing you have to check is that they are waterproof, if you live in a wet environment and that the battery life is ok for the distance and time of your journey.

You can find different size cameras at this price point, the small key-chain, mini action cameras like the Matecam 808, and runcam which are used a lot in FPV and remote control.

There are even choices for cameras that don't need a waterproof case, like the HTC RE, which is splashproof without an extra housing, so could be great for cycling or taking out hiking and on small adventures where you are just after the memory rather than professional footage.

You still get a lot of choice with this price range, and through 2018 and beyond, cheap action cameras will only get better as hardware and technology drips down, we look forward to what the future holds.
